Every time I pick up a paintbrush, I somehow end up with paint on my elbow, in my hair, and the floors covered in drips. So for this pantry project, I decided to use what I know works: Handy Products.

I’ve used their stuff for years, and every time I do, it feels like a treat. The tools actually make painting feel doable. And slightly luxurious, in that “this didn’t ruin my day” kind of way.

Step One: Ditch the Coffee Mug

Let’s be honest, I’ve used everything from Red Solo cups to coffee mugs to hold paint. And it’s definitely not ideal. It makes everything harder and messier than it needs to be. Handy Product’s trays, pails, and liners are what I should have been reaching for all along. No spills, no mess, and no explaining why my brush is stuck to the kitchen counter.

What I Used (and Why I Keep Reaching for Them)

Handy Paint Pail – It has a built-in magnet that holds your brush when you’re not using it. So instead of trying to balance your brush on the rim like some kind of paint circus act, you just click it into place. Smart. Also, LIDS. I love me a lid!

Liners – I hate cleanup. These make it easy. Use them, toss them, done.

Trim & Roll 9-Piece Kit– It came with a bunch of awesome stuff, including a tray, roller, snap cup, paint brush, paint stirrer/opener, paint can pourer, and the best part–a koozie! The tray holds a good amount of paint without being heavy and the roller gave me a super smooth finish. Also, a LID!! Did I mention I love lids?!

Why It Matters

This pantry makeover has been a journey. Making my own cabinets. Trying to reuse original cabinets and make it look intentional. Brick…AGAIN. So when it came time to paint, I needed something easy. Something predictable. Handy Products were the one part of this project that didn’t cause me major stress.

I used my paint sprayer initially. Which is a love/hate relationship. Makes things so quick and easy, but as much as I think I’m doing thin coats, some parts got a little drippy. So when it came time to touching up, well, everything, I grabbed my Handy Products. And instead of chasing drips or wondering where I left my brush (again), I actually got to focus on painting. Like a normal person. It was nice.

Should You Try It?

If you’re still pouring paint into random containers, this is your sign. Handy Products are made by people who clearly understand the struggle. Everything is ergonomic, durable, and just makes the whole process smoother.

You can find them at nearly every hardware store or check where to buy here!
